Why We Like The P-Series 105 Road Bike
Aero being everything may not be so much an inescapable conclusion as we thought when the first wave of aero bikes came to market. With the Cervelo P-Series, a balance is met between wind tunnel excellence and real-world performance to achieve Cervelo's standard of "no wasted effort." Let's start with what it is.
The P-Series 105 Road Bike firmly stakes claim to the triathlon and time trial disciplines. Cervelo utilizes aerodynamic, carbon tube shapes for a slender front end, a rear-wheel cutout that tests the limits of tolerances, a seat mast that could cut post-event watermelon slices, and an integrated bottle cage that tucks so tightly behind the downtube it's as if the passing air is lava. Once we familiarized ourself with the fact that this machine is built for straight-line speed, we might wonder how it turns. The answer is surprisingly, naturally. Cervelo boosts the torsional stiffness and adds more strength to the bottom bracket so we feel more in line with the bike under hard pedaling, out-of-corner accelerations. The result is a bike that performs better than its predecessor on flats, in turns, and on climbs, providing advantages over the competition throughout every part on course. And with the non-proprietary components, we're able to customize the cockpit and drivetrain to suit our riding and racing needs to fine-tune the advantage.
Cervelo knows we may be out there for long training miles and boasts storage capacity to prove it. A 500ml aero water bottle, a 400ml top-tube storage compartment, and an integrated rear hydration mount are all standard on the P-Series. Combined with the value of the lower cost Shimano 105 drivetrain and powerful disc brakes, the P-Series is essentially race-ready right out of the box.
*Due to unprecedented demand in the global supply chain and the bike industry over the last 18 months, material weight and exact components are subject to change. We are working diligently to keep tech specs updated, and any adjustments will be minor. If you have any questions, reach out to a Gearhead by chatting online or calling 1-888-276-7130.
