FR-C Pro Bib Short
Whether you're toeing the line on race day, or heading out for a rigorous training ride, the FR-C Pro Bib Shorts set the benchmark for performance and comfort. Designed in conjunction with Giordana's Pro Teams, these award-winning shorts offer a highly-coveted balance of compressive support coupled with a barely-there feel that makes every movement on the bike feel natural and comfortable.
The shorts are constructed from Giordana's HC50 High Compression Power Lycra, which is a supercharged fabric that takes the previous generation's HC-44 Lycra to another level by providing added compression with a higher thread count. HC-50's ultra-compact knit is lighter and offers improved performance thanks to a higher compression rate that's typically only found only in heavier fabrics. Zaffiro 2.0, a textured anti-abrasion Lyrca, is utilized on the inner leg and seat panel as it increases the shorts' resistance to pedaling friction.
Our favorite feature might just be the 190 E leg cuffs. Giordana uses a soft, mesh-like elastic that expands for improved comfort with less restriction. This doesn't sacrifice the security of the fit though, as the taller 7.5cm cuff height and internal silicone grippers are more than enough to keep the shorts in place while pedaling.
We've always been proponents of Giordana's FormaRed fit, but the revised construction ups the ante even more by virtually eliminating creased and bunched fabrics throughout the pedal stroke. The top-tier Cirro S chamois utilizes varying thickness with plush cushioning in critical zones, and relief where you need it most. The face fabric utilizes a Nylon microfiber that incorporates Aloe Vera permanently infused into the threads for improved cooling and reduced odor accumulation. Underneath this fabric is an expanded memory foam layer with a waffled texture that aids in breathability and moisture management by moving perspiration to the outside of the shorts for quick evaporation.

Though on the pricy side, I've made an exception for these bib shorts. For me, by far the most comfortable bibs I own. I like the slightly longer leg of this bib and the wider bib strap. The first pair lasted 3 seasons with before showing signs of wear, though they were still comfortable.

I researched many bibs and decided to go with these. You'd have to prove it to me to make me believe there is a better pair on the market. The comfort and feel is excellent and super lightweight. For me there is no need to try any other brand.

Adequate for the job. *

*initial impression, subject to change. After a few more rides: I may bump this up a star. The product literature suggested using without chamois creme, claiming it's unnecessary. It tried it without, and indeed it worked out well. I'll go for some longer rides without just to be sure. ---- Initial impression: Having ridden mainly Assos and Castelli bibs for the last several years, these Giordana have a different fit and feel. The FRC Pro uses more material that what I am used to in those other brands. The legs feel a little bit longer, the bib straps are wider, and overall, the designers did not seem to be concerned with paring down weight (excess material). Pros and cons to this. This would not be my first choice for summer shorts because they feel a bit heavier (like heavy clothing, not like a significant weight penalty). The wider straps feel more secure, and less prone to buckle, pinch, or tear like some of the lightweight Castelli I have owned. However, the legs feel longer and the leg cuffs squeeze just behind the knees, therefore a bit more restrictive than necessary. The chamois also doesn't conform quite as well off the bike. The upper part of the chamois sort of pulls away from the body a bit (diaper effect). This is really only noticeable while standing; once on the bike the chamois lays down exactly where it needs to go, and it is on par in terms of comfort for at least the first few initial rides I have done with these. The chamois design looks very basic at this price point, that generic sort of orange/red foam I have seen on lower-line shorts, with stitching on the entire periphery. I am surprised that these are priced where they are. While sturdy and reliable, they feel a bit more economical because of these issues, and I would expect the FRC Pro to compete more directly with mid-level Pearl Izumi, for example, than with other top European brands. I am optimistic the bit of extra material will contribute to longevity, however, and if so, the price may be justified for my own personal sense of economy.

Fell in love then fell apart

I bought these bibs to add to my rotation and decided to spring for the best. Very comfortable top to bottom. Perfect chamois and comfy straps. Perfect compression where it is very supportive but not impossible to put on (I'm looking at you Castelli). They fit true to size for me. I'm 5'8" tall, 155 pounds. I have size Medium. The Bad: They wore through the inner thigh after 8 rides. As with all of my kits, I wash with gentle cycle and hang dry. I own 10 pairs of bibs, mostly LG and Sportful. I have bibs that are over 5 years old and none have shown any wear on my inner thigh let alone worn through. Sadly Competitive Cyclist won't let me return these. Perhaps they were defective because I want to love them. Hope this helps.

I've tried many bibs including Castelli, Rapha, and Assos. While those all seemed fine I would always experience some level of discomfort after a few hours in the saddle. The second I put these on I knew they were different. Everything just felt perfect. On top of a few centuries, the latest testament was 5 hours of a knarly, bumpy gravel race with zero chafing or discomfort. Now they're my go to bib. I use the others for shorter rides until I can replace them with a full rotation of these beauties. Do yourself a favor and get them now!

I have now had 3 pair of these. When I started cycling 2 years ago I needed an xl, my latest were a size medium and they fit perfectly. I have several of the supposed best brands, but I keep coming back to these because they are by far my most durable bibs. Chamois is as good as they come from my experience. Leg cuffs don't go floppy like some other brands. I can still wear my XL(chamois is just a bit large). Straps are very comfortable as well. Highly recommend.

On my first ride with these, I actually noticed how nice they feel. They moved with me and just felt really nice. I found myself actually thinking about how nice they feel, and I washed them right away so that I could wear them again on my next ride. I highly recommend them.

Just got these bibs and my initial impression is great. Fit and finish is very good, and the chamois was comfortable in a 2hr ride. The material seems to be on the thinner side but very compressive.

Great Bibs

Great pair of bibs with good compression. The chamois is the perfect thickness for a nice amount of padding without being too thick. I will be adding a second pair.

This marks my 6th or 7th pair over the past several years. For longer rides of 50-100 miles, this a simply the best. Ever. Compression makes those last several miles doable. Padding is awesome. I have very slender legs, so bottom gripper is important. Snug and they don't creep. They dry fast after a wash. They pack up pretty small for trips when space matters.
