Why We Like The Ibis DV9 XT Mountain Bike
When we have had enough of the full suspension squish and want to get back to the basics, the Ibis DV9 is always at the top of our list. We love the Ibis DV9 XT mountain bike for its incredible versatility, lightweight frame, and agile nature. The DV9 starts with a premium carbon fiber frame that is handmade in Santa Cruz, California, and weighs just 2.6 pounds. With a low standover height and short seat tubes, the DV9 can fit various rider sizes and has room for long travel dropper posts. A 66.5-degree headtube angle is slack enough to give us that extra bit of confidence going downhill but not too slack that we lose the DV9's sharp handling. Short and flickable chainstays make for a nimble ride that is at home jibbing, jumping, and slashing up the trail. Size-specific seat tube angles give us the perfect pedal position no matter how tall we are or what size frame we have. An integrated chainstay protector and downtube protector help keep our bike protected from chain slap and rock strikes, while the tidy internal cable routing gives our bike a clean look.
Reliable and precise are two words to describe Shimano's mountain bike components, which is why we love this build. The Ibis DV9 XT mountain bike features a Shimano XT drivetrain, sporting a 12-speed, 10-51 tooth cassette range for getting us up the nastiest climbs. Next, a Fox Factory 34, 120mm fork is ultra smooth and loaded with compression and rebound adjustments. Ibis equipped their own aluminum 933 rims and name-brand hubs to make for a quality wheelset, and Ibis's carbon handlebar helps to save some weight. To wrap it all together, Maxxis Rekon Race tires were added to give the DV9 a set of fast-rolling tires that don't sacrifice grip.
*Due to a high demand in the global supply chain and bike industry since the start of the pandemic, material weight and exact components are subject to change. We are working diligently to keep tech specs updated, and any adjustments will be of equal or better spec level.
