Why We Like The Ibis HD6 Mountain Bike Frame
From enduro races to lapping our favorite downhill trails, we love the Ibis HD6 for its increased capability, mixed-wheel setup, and insatiable desire to rail chunky trails at Mach speed. The HD6 is a big step up from its older sibling, the HD5, with 15mm of added rear suspension travel and 10mm more fork travel. In addition, the HD6 takes things up a notch and slaps a 29-inch wheel up front while keeping the agile 27.5-inch wheel in the rear to bring us a mixed-wheel setup for the best of both worlds. With 165mm of DW-Link suspension, the HD6 can bomb technical trails with reckless abandon, can climb like a trail bike, and has a plush yet supportive ride. Designed for railing big mountain descents and enduro racing, the HD6 has a 64-degree headtube angle for maximum stability when descending and a size-specific seat tube angle averaging at 76.5-degrees to put us in an efficient position when climbing back to the top for another lap. Short and snappy 435mm chainstays across all sizes ensure an agile bike with impressive rear wheel turning and a knack for getting the front wheel off the ground. A reworked link design gives the HD6 a progressive leverage ratio and a coil-compatible shock, while the lower link has been rotated 90 degrees, allowing us to access it without having to remove our cranks. The frame of the HD6 features integrated chainstay and downtube protectors for frame protection, has a shuttle guard so we can drive to the trailhead worry-free, has room for a bottle mount in the front triangle, and has internal cable routing with internally guided tubes for effortless cable management.
*Due to a high demand in the global supply chain and bike industry since the start of the pandemic, material weight and exact components are subject to change.
