Why We Like The Juliana Roubion C GX Eagle Transmission Mountain Bike
Whether we are training for our local enduro series with days of massive climbs and descents or we are just tearing up our local singletrack on the weekdays, the Juliana Roubion is a hit with the Herd for its aggressive geometry, capable suspension platform, and its all-out rowdy attitude. Complete with 150mm of VPP suspension, the Roubion is a ruthless descender and feels bottomless on some of our steepest trails while still making short work out of most climbs. The mixed-wheel setup gives us the best of both worlds, with the efficient-rolling 29-inch wheel up front to carry our speed over rougher trails and an agile 27.5-inch rear wheel to corner quicker and get the wheels off the ground easier. A 64.7-degree headtube angle and a long wheelbase sticks our front wheel out in front of us for confidence and stability on the descents. A size-specific seat tube angle, sitting at around 77 degrees, puts us in the perfect position over the pedals, allowing us to be efficient when climbing. Size-specific chainstay lengths mean every rider on a Roubion can have the same agile and playful rear end, no matter our size frame. On those bigger bike park days when we are riding more technical and steep terrain, the Roubion features a flip chip that allows us to adjust our geometry, making the bike slacker, longer, and lower. Juliana made several changes to their frames this year, including a Glovebox frame storage for easy access to our riding essentials and a Sag Window for making sag reading and setup easier. The Roubion includes an integrated chainstay and downtube protector to protect our bike from rock strikes and chain slaps, and a shuttle guard allows us to drive to the trailhead with our bike on our tailgate pad.
The GX Eagle Transmission AXS build of the Juliana Roubion combines quality components and an electronic drivetrain to give us a premium build spec with a more budget-friendly approach. This build starts with Juliana's Carbon C frame, built to the same standards as Juliana's premium Carbon CC frame for best-in-class stiffness and reliability and only differs by a slight weight penalty. SRAM's GX Eagle Transmission AXS drivetrain gives us a reliable 12-speed drivetrain with a huge gear range for getting us technical climbs, and the new transmission system shifts flawlessly and is super durable for peace of mind when riding hard. RaceFace ARC Offset 30 alloy rims allow us to bomb down the most technical trails without worry and are paired with DT Swiss 370 hubs for a premium wheelset. The RockShox Select+ line gives us quality suspension performance, with the Super Deluxe Select+ rear shock sporting multiple compression and rebound adjustments and ground-gripping traction capabilities, and the RockShox Lyrik Select+ or the Fox 36 Performance Elite 160mm fork up front soaking up the big hits and keeping us composed on the roughest trails. Finally, enduro-focused Maxxis DHF and DHRII tires allow us to rail around berms and send it down the steepest descents without losing traction.
*Due to a high demand in the global supply chain and bike industry since the start of the pandemic, material weight and exact components are subject to change. We are working diligently to keep tech specs updated, and any adjustments will be of equal or better spec level.
