Why We Like The Switchblade Pro XT/XTR Carbon Wheel Mountain Bike
When we want to take on technical trails but don't need the added heft of a full-blown enduro rig, we reach for the Pivot Switchblade and pedal off into the hills. This light and quick 29er trail bike is as versatile as can be, excelling at everything from 6-hour cross-country rides to a weekend of enduro racing. Equipped with 142mm of rear travel, 160mm of front travel, and well-balanced geometry, the Switchblade takes us anywhere we want so long as our legs are up for it. The frame is made using Pivot's hollow-core molding technique, resulting in a strong and light frame that feels great on the trail. The frame is complemented by Pivot's DW-Link suspension platform that pedals efficiently and absorbs square-edged hits better than many longer travel bikes do.
This Pro XT/XTR build sees an upgrade to DT Swiss XMC1501 carbon wheels that are tough enough for rowdy downhills and offer better performance than their aluminum counterparts. Legendary DT Swiss 240 hubs with a 36t EXP Star Ratchet make for quick hub engagement and great long-term reliability. Shimano's 12-speed drivetrain never ceases to impress, and on this bike, you'll find XT components with an XTR rear derailleur. Rounding out the build are FOX's top-level Factory suspension components, as well as XT 4-piston brakes with plenty of bite and stopping power.
*Due to a high demand in the global supply chain and bike industry since the start of the pandemic, material weight and exact components are subject to change. We are working diligently to keep tech specs updated, and any adjustments will be of equal or better spec level.
