5010 Carbon C GX Eagle AXS Reserve Mountain Bike

From high-mileage trail rides to post-work sessions at the local jump trail, the 5010 Carbon C GX Eagle AXS Reserve Mountain Bike can truly handle it all. Now with a mixed-wheel design, the 5010 tackles chunky trail sections with ease thanks to a 29in wheel up front, while the 27.5in rear wheel makes it intuitive to rail corners and boost jumps. Santa Cruz tweaked the suspension kinematics and shock tune to make the 130mm of VPP travel produce a little bit more traction without sacrificing the bike’s efficient, responsive feel. We’re big fans of the new Glovebox in-frame storage solution that lets us stash the included Tube Purse, Tool Wallet, and other goodies right in the bike’s downtube. With a 64.9-degree head tube angle (low position), the 5010 strikes the balance between stability and maneuverability, situated nicely within the modern trend.

This premium build rolls on carbon HD 30 wheels from Reserve which we’ve found to be pretty much bombproof, plus they’re quick rolling and reactive on the trail. The frame also gets carbon treatment, utilizing the cost-effective Carbon C layup from Santa Cruz that’s only marginally heavier than the Carbon CC construction. Another build highlight is the SRAM GX Eagle AXS shifter and derailleur which delivers low-maintenance performance along with truly instant shifting for last-minute gear changes. The RockShox Pike Select+ fork delivers 140mm of travel that inspires confidence in technical terrain without weighing us down at all on the climbs. Santa Cruz now builds 5010 frames with size-specific chainstays to ensure consistent ride qualities across the entire size run. This 5010 build delivers excellent components, making the bike suitable as a quiver-killer for the rider who prioritizes maneuverability, efficiency, and fun.
