Why We Like The Yeti SB160 T3 X0 Eagle T-Type Carbon Wheel Mountain Bike
Bombing vertical lines and racing for the podium, the SB160 is at the top of our list for a hard-charging, aggressive enduro bike. Centered around Yeti's renowned Switch Infinity suspension platform, the SB160 features a bottomless feel, enhanced small bump sensitivity, and a supportive mid-stroke. With a slack 64-degree head tube angle, we are confident sending it down steep lines and rocky chutes due to our front wheel being placed out in front of us for confidence and stability and the descents. Yeti amplified the award-winning SB150 platform, giving the SB160 10 millimeters of more travel in the rear, a longer reach, and a more linear progression curve that allows for more predictable damping characteristics and a more supportive mid-stroke. The final third of the travel features a sharp ramp-up in progressiveness, allowing for more bottom-out resistance. The size-specific chainstay and seat tube angles give us an efficient climbing position and a stable and supportive rear end, no matter the size of our frame. Yeti revised their frames this year, providing 25 millimeters more clearance on the downtube to protect against rock strikes, so we can charge harder and worry less. Yeti's Switch Infinity suspension system also saw an update this year, redesigning the system to be more compact, more durable with sealed bearings, stiffer with floating collet pivot axles, and a revamped bushing design that is more protected and durable.
The T3 X0 Eagle Transmission AXS Carbon Wheel build of the Yeti SB 160 is a race-worthy build that features some of the best components on the market. Yeti's premium TURQ carbon frame is the best they offer and uses premium carbon fiber for the stiffest and lightest frame possible. SRAM's X0 Eagle Transmission AXS drivetrain is super durable, features a hanger-less interface, shifts flawlessly, even under load, and has an overload clutch that moves out of the way in the event of an impact and returns to the proper position to ensure proper shifting no matter what. DT Swiss EXC 1501 carbon wheels are top-of-the-line, super lightweight, stiff, and feature DT Swiss's 240 hubs for race-winning performance. Premium Maxxis Assegai and DHRII tires are proven enduro tires that give us the grip we need when crushing steep descents. For some serious stopping power, this build of the Yeti SB160 is equipped with SRAM's Code RSC,4-piston brakes, providing us their top-tier brakes that feature a contact adjust wheel for the perfect bite every time.
